Iranian animator selected for Annecy jury
Iranian animator and animation director Maryam Kashkuli-Nia will serve on the panel of jury at the 41st Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.
She said, "The festival's secretary Marcel Jean has recently invited me to be one of the French festival's juries and I voiced my readiness to take part in the world-famous festival."
The festival will be held from June 12 to 17, 2017.
She added that she had submitted three of her animations for the earlier editions of the festival and "that's why I got to know the festival".
"Mehdi Masoud-Shahi, managing director of Saba Cultural and Artistic Company was one of the Iranian jury members in an earlier edition of the festival," she added.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival was established in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France. Initially held every two years, the festival became an annual event in 1998. It is one of the four international animated film festivals sponsored by the Association Internationale du Film d'Animation.
The festival is a competition between cartoon films from a number of techniques (animated drawings, cut-out papers, modeling clay) which are classified in various categories.
