'The Servant' twirls through to Snake Valley festival in US
Short animated piece 'The Servant', directed by Iranian filmmaker Farnoush Abedi, will take part in the 6th Snake Alley Festival of Film in Iowa, the US.

The festival is dedicated to showcasing the best short films from around the world, ISNA reported.

The festival derives its name from Snake Alley, a street constructed in 1884 and designed to connect an upscale residential neighborhood to the business district of downtown Burlington in Iowa.

The festival's top prizes include an iron and wood sculpture for Best of the Fest, The Audience Choice, Best Iowa Film and The Directors Award for outstanding performance.

This year's edition will be held on June 21-24 at the Burlington Capitol Theater.

'The Servant' narrates the familiar story of a master and his servant, the story of a writer's encounter with a gigantic insect: A cockroach. The cockroach becomes a servant but gradually begins to realize that it deserves better conditions, so it tries to turn the table and change the game in its own favor. The man, however, attempts to preserve the current situation but soon realizes that the game has no rules.

The animated piece recently took part in other US festivals including the 2nd annual Silver Scream Film and Comics Festival, the 33rd Seattle International Film Festival, and the 27th Cinequest Film Festival.

The Iranian flick won the Best Animation award at the 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival and the best short animation award for February at London Independent Film Festival.
