The ralliers gathered in the main squares of the city at the invitation of non-governmental organizations, chanting slogans in support of the Syrian nation and condemnation of the overnight attack on the country, IRNA reported.
Greek police said about 6,000 to 7,000 people took part in a rally and march in central Athens to protest the US-led missile attack against Syria.
Police vehicles barricaded access to the embassies, and there was a heavy police presence. Protesters left peacefully.
The US, Britain and France launched joint airstrikes on Syria earlier Saturday in response to a suspected chemical attack on civilians on April 7.
