Iran plans incentive packages for foreign tourists during Norouz

Iran will soon introduce incentive packages to foreigners to encourage them to visit tourist attractions in the country during Norouz, the Iranian New Year, announced the head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization.

The incentive packages, which aim to increase the number of tourists coming to Iran, will be presented for the first time during the Norouz holidays from March 21, Ali Asghar Mounesan told IRNA in the northern province of Mazandaran.

About five million foreign tourists visit Iran each year, but efforts are underway to increase the number to 20 million by 2025, Mounesan said, adding the target can be reached since Iran is considered an inexpensive tourist destination.

At present, he added, Iran's incentive package for foreign tourists is more expensive than that of neighboring countries, so Tehran is serious in cutting the prices of its packages through agreements with hotel owners to include discounts on accommodation.

Commented on Iran's President Hassan Rouhani's remarks about increasing people's happiness during Norouz holidays, he said all organizations will use their capacities to make people happy.

Iran is an ancient country with rich civilization and there are many natural and tourist attractions across the country.
