Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said more than 190 countries stand against the US president because they trust the Iranian government, nation and the establishment.

President Rouhani made the comments in a meeting with provincial governors-general on Tuesday.

“Undoubtedly, if the establishment and the future of the country were not strong, more than 190 countries would not stand against Trump, and the resistance is a sign of the world’s trust in the establishment, nation and the government,” Rouhani said.

Most countries in the world, especially the signatories of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, have frequently supported the agreement and opposed demands by US President Donald Trump to kill the deal.

In January, the US president reluctantly agreed to waive sanctions against Iran that were lifted as part of the landmark deal, but said it would be the last time he issued such a waiver unless conditions were met.

Trump said he wanted America’s European allies to use the 120-day period before sanctions relief again came up for renewal, to agree to tougher measures and new conditions, otherwise Washington would pull out of the deal.

The agreement, reached between Iran and the P5+1 countries – the US, the UK, France, China, Russia and Germany – puts limitations on parts of Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for removing all nuclear-related sanctions.
