During the rally, held after the Friday prayers, the protesters chanted slogans such as “Death to Israel” and “Death to the US” and “Death to Britain.”
They condemned Trump’s baseless accusations against Iran during his much-criticized speech at the United Nations General Assembly and vowed to fully defend the Iranian government and the Islamic Revolution.
In a statement, the demonstrators also called on all Muslims in the world to boost their unity, confront divisive plots and prevent the killing of innocent people given the ongoing situation in the region and the Muslim world.
During his speech at the General Assembly on Tuesday, the US president accused Iran of engaging in “destabilizing activities” in the region.
He also claimed that Iran's "support for terror is in stark contrast to the recent commitments of many of its neighbors to fight terrorism and halt its financing.”
Trump also denounced the nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries in 2015 as “embarrassment” that Washington may abandon.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China – plus Germany signed the nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015 and started implementing it on January 16, 2016.
Backed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231, the JCPOA is an international agreement, which makes it impossible for any party to the deal to withdraw from it.
Since Trump took office, the US has repeatedly threatened to abandon the agreement.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday lashed out at President Trump for his “ignorant and spiteful” comments against the Iranian nation.
Delivering a speech at the 72nd UN General Assembly session in New York, President Rouhani said the “ignorant, ugly, spiteful literature of the US president, which was full of false information and groundless allegations, against the Iranian nation” were beneath the dignity of the United Nations.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has also censured Trump’s latest hostile comments against the Iranian nation at the UN as “ugly”, "foolish” and “sheer lies.”
Ayatollah Khamenei made the comments in a meeting with members of Iran’s Assembly of Experts in Tehran on Thursday.
The statements by the US president did not bring any pride to the American nation, said Ayatollah Khamenei. “The American elite should be ashamed of having such a president.”
Trump’s anti-Iran remarks deceptive: Iran cleric
Meanwhile, also on Friday, a senior Iranian cleric said the allegations leveled against Iran by the US president were false and deceptive, which showed his fury, desperation and idiocy.
Trump made such a deceptive remarks due to his successive defeats in the Middle East, Kazem Seddiqi said in an address to worshipers during the weekly Friday Prayers in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
He added that Trump has been irked by US ideological defeats.
The Iranian cleric noted that backed by Washington, Western countries have sought to establish a new Middle East region with the purpose of guaranteeing security for the Israeli regime but all their plans have failed and turned out fruitless.
