An increase in the budget allocated for youth affairs has led to a significant development in the sector during the tenure of the incumbent government, said the sport and youth minister.
On the current administration's achievements in youth affairs, Masoud Soltanifar said the amount of marriage loan extended to newly-wed couples went up from $2,000 to $6,666 since 2015.
"Based on official figures, close to 1.2 million newly-wed couples received the loan in the year to March 2017, which is fourfold greater than the figure for the year to March 2013."
The minister said that the number of marriage consulting centers also increased from 20 to 200 during the period, adding the government is planning to develop such centers in cooperation with the private sector.
Soltanifar said that budget for youth affairs has been set at $133.33 million for the year to mid-March 2018, while the figure for the year to March 2013 was a mere $2 million.
He said the number of non-governmental organizations involved in the activities pertaining to the youth also recorded a 40-fold growth to reach 2,000 during the tenure of the current government.
