The Russian side beat Iran 2-1 on Monday, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Iran has been drawn in Group D along with host Zenit St. Petersburg, Moldova, and Slovenia.
Coached by Abbas Chamanian, the Iranian squad will meet Slovenia today and Moldova on Friday.
The traditional international youth association football tournament kicked off on January 8 and will wrap up on January 21.
The tourney is held annually in memory of first FIFA Vice-President Valentin Granatkin.
The first edition of the tournament was held in 1981, in which West Germany became the champion. Soviet Union-1 finished as the runner-up and Spain stood third.
Slovenia, Zenit St. Petersburg and Russia claimed the top three spots of the previous edition.
The groups of the meet are:
Group А: Tajikistan, Greece, Bulgaria, Estonia
Group В: Latvia, Belarus, Russia, India
Group С: Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, Kazakhstan
Group D: Moldova, Slovenia, Zenit St. Petersburg, Iran
