Researchers of Tarbiat Modarres University have invented models of devices generating terahertz radiation which can work without any need for an external voltage source.
Once the research is complete, this device can be used in medical fields.
Kazem Moravvej-Farshi, the project researcher, said this project provides a new device for turning infrared radiation into terahertz radiation.
It reduces the complexities pertaining to securing electric energy for launching the device, particularly in medical applications, he added.
In fact, it opens a window for new applications such as endoscopic imaging in terahertz range.
Dr. Mohammad-Javad Mohammad-Zamani, a PhD student from Tarbiat Modarres University, Dr. Mohammad Neshat, a faculty member of Tehran University also contributed to the research which was published in Optics Letters.
