Iran, Russia discuss cultural ties

Iran's Cultural Attaché in Moscow Reza Maleki and Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Print and Mass Communications of Russia Vladimir Grigoriev, in a meeting in the Russian capital, discussed promotion of scientific and cultural ties.

During the meeting, Maleki admired the active participation of Russian publishers in Tehran International Book Fair and also the presence of Iranian publishers in Moscow International Book Fair, IRNA reported.

He referred to the exchange of cultural delegations and the commemoration ceremonies held by distinguished figures of the two countries and said that these events show the depth of bilateral ties.

Both officials underlined the importance of cooperation in the fields of science and culture including the translation and publication of books, establishment of exhibitions and use of opportunities in cyberspace.

Maleki and Grigoriev also discussed the establishment of a joint cultural committee and awarding the best book of the year published in the region.

The meeting also focused on preparing ground for cooperation between Tehran-based 'Great Islamic Encyclopedia' and the 'Russian Orthodox Church'.
