Vice-President and Head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Masoud Soltanifar said that given the rise in arrival of foreign tourists to Iran in the past two years, ICHHTO decided to issue tourist visa at the airport for three-month stay.
Citizens of 190 countries may receive tourist visa at airports, he told IRNA.
He said that considering a great demand of foreign tourists, especially from Muslim and Arab states, the Foreign Ministry and ICHHTO made coordination to get approval of Cabinet ministers on July 3, 2016, to issue tourist visa at the airports for three-month stay.
Soltanifar continued that currently visa is issued at nine airports including IKIA (Tehran), Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Tabriz, Bandar Abbas, Larestan, Kish and Qeshm.
Facilities are being prepared at airports of Orumieh, Ahvaz, Yazd and Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport as well, he added.
He also said Iran has currently reciprocal visa cancellation agreement with 12 states, adding that 28 countries are on the agenda for visa cancellation with reciprocity by the respective governments.
