Iraqi first VP arrives in Tehran

Tehran, Nov 9, IRNA – Iraqi First Vice-President Nouri al-Maliki arrived in Tehran on Sunday for talks with high-ranking Iranian officials.

Upon his arrival at Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport, the former Iraqi prime minister was accorded welcome by Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Shariatmadari.
During his stay in Tehran, the Iraqi official is scheduled to hold talks with Iranian officials on issues of mutual interest, as well as regional issues, including developments in Iraq and the campaign against terrorism and extremism.
Maliki served as Iraq's prime minister for two 4-year terms (2006-2014), but left his post in favor of Heydar al-Ebadi this summer to help the survival of peace and stability in his country.
