Rouhani stresses Iran’s peace discourse

Iran’s President Rouhani restated his policy of peace and dialogue on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting of businessmen and investors in Tabriz, capital of the East Azerbaijan Province, President Rouhani restated his policy of peace and dialogue on Wednesday.

President Rouhani said his administration is trying to reflect the real image of Iranians as a peace-loving, hospitable and civilized nation to the world.

Rouhani stressed strengthening of ties with neighboring countries and said, “Iran has never initiated aggression to any country and will stay so. The Iranian nation favors peaceful co-existence with its neighbors.”

Pointing to Iran's policies after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 and Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, Rouhani said, “We are not after aggression and retaliation and want good ties with the world and neighbors”.

“If there is a problem, Iran wants it to be settled and a better condition to be created,” he said.

For the remaining part of his speech, President Rouhani elaborated on the government policies in supporting private sector, business, financial, industrial and economic activities.

He also recounted Iranian government’s plans to support middle class for buying residence including different mortgages devised for capital city of Tehran, metropolitan areas and small towns.
