Handwritten copies of the Holy Koran attributed to the infallible household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) are on display at the 16th International Koran Exhibition underway at Tehran’s Grand Prayer Ground (Mosalla).
Announcing this, Ali Mehr-Talab, an expert with Astan-e Qods-e Razavi Foundation told IRNA that the manuscripts include Korans pertaining to Imam Ali (AS) --the first Imam of the infallible household of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)--and his son Imam Hassan (AS).
He added that the event has also put on show invaluable copies of the holy Koran which were donated by artists to the foundation.
He said that on show are displayed the oldest Persian translation of the Koran from the 4th century A.H. as well as the largest copy of the English version of the Koran weighing 46 kilograms.
A Koran transcribed in ’Nastaliq’ calligraphy style by Master Seyyed Hossein Mirkhani, translations of the Qur’an in Turkish, French, English, Urdu as well as Persian are also being showcased at the exhibit. Commenting on the role of exhibitions in promoting Koranic culture, Mehr-Talab said that it depends on the performance of officials as well as the products presented at the event.
“The exhibit provides an opportunity for the public to get acquainted with Koranic concepts,“ he said.
