President of France National Library Bruno Racine (1st l) visited Iran National Library on Wednesday.
President of National Library of France (BnF) Bruno Racine on Wednesday said his library is prepared to exchange maps of Iran with Iran National Library and Documents Organization.
According to MNA, Racine made the above statement during his tour of Iran National Library.
He also said, “We have some Persian manuscripts in our library, but they are not as many as available in National Library of Iran.“
Asked about the reason for his visit, he noted, “My visit to Iran is subsequent to my Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Ashari’s visit to France during which he toured various cultural institutions and centers. It was during his visit to France that he invited me to tour Iran.“
He noted that the National Library of France currently has 2,700 staffers and its annual budget is 200 million euros.
Ashari, head of Iran National Library and Documents Organization, for his part, said that the relation between the two libraries is tantamount to scientific and cultural ties between Tehran and Paris, which definitely helps improve mutual understanding.

After keeping everyone in the dark for days, Cannes Film Festival organizers took the wraps off the remaining lineup on April 29, unveiling Brazilian filmmaker Fernando Meirelles’ ’Blindness’ as the May 14 opening-night film.
’Blindness’, the English-language adaptation of Jose Saramago’s best-selling mystery novel, stars Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Danny Glover and Gael Garcia Bernal in a story about a city struck by a strange blindness pandemic, Reuters reported.
Also added to the festival lineup were pair of competition titles. Laurent Cantet’s ’Entre les murs’ will be the third Gallic title in the section, while James Gray’s ’Two Lovers’, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow, also will vie for this year’s Palme d’Or. Gray’s previous film ’We Own the Night’ competed at Cannes last year.
Cantet’s ’Murs’ is an adaptation of prolific French author Francois Begaudeau’s novel about a French teacher at a secondary school in a rough neighborhood. Begaudeau, who wrote the script alongside Cantet and Robin Campillo, also stars as himself.
As expected, Barry Levinson’s Hollywood satire ’What Just Happened?’ will close the festival May 25. The film’s star, Robert De Niro, will serve double duty on closing night. In addition to presenting the Levinson film, the actor will bestow the Palme d’Or on the competition winner.
