Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the Iranian people will elect the most competent lawmakers in the second round of Majlis elections on April 25.
The leader made the remark in a meeting with exemplary workers and officials of the Labor Ministry on Wednesday, IRNA reported.
Appreciating the role of workers in serving the country to achieve independence and honor, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the need for respecting workers.
Noting that the Iranian nation will have a massive turnout in the second round of Majlis elections similar to the first round held on March 14, the leader said, “The Iranian people neutralized the enemies’ propaganda campaign through their massive turnout in the election. They should also elect the most competent and sympathetic candidates who would cooperate with the government, judiciary and other bodies of the Islamic system.“
The leader underscored the importance of preserving unity among officials and people, noting that the enemies are looking for minor differences among Iranian officials to wage propaganda campaigns.
“As the late Imam Khomeini repeatedly underlined the necessity of unity and solidarity among people, everybody should refrain from magnifying differences and disputes,“ he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said Iranians are exercising vigilance and maintaining their solidarity, noting that the nation has attained political independence following the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
“This independence can be preserved by consolidating the economic pillars of the Islamic country through hard-working, production, innovation and prosperity in various sectors,“ he said.
“The enemies have been frustrated at confronting the great nation of Iran, therefore they have resorted to vain accusations and rhetoric against Iran.“
Ayatollah Khamenei said the current government is making efforts to implement valuable projects and the Cabinet members are working for the country’s prosperity.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday criticized opponents of his economic policies, without referring to any specific people or body, and called them to stand aside if they do not believe in justice.
Addressing a large public gathering in the western city of Hamedan, the chief executive highlighted the matter of justice as a vital factor for undertaking national reconstruction.
“Those who are opposed to the reduction of bank lending rates should stay away and let the vigilant nation implement justice,“ he said.
The visit was part of the president’s second provincial tour in the new Iranian year (started March 20), Fars News Agency reported.
“While we insisted on the reduction of bank lending rates, some elements opposed the plan saying that it was not a scientific decision. Now I tell them to stand aside and let the nation implement the scheme, if these elements do not pursue justice,“ he said.
Referring to the US economic crisis, the president predicted that the catastrophe will affect the economies of some Asian countries and the Europe.
Ahmadinejad added that the US economic challenges have resulted from its aggressive policy to plunder the assets of other nations and will dismantle the arrogant powers’ capitalist system.
“Nations across the world cannot tolerate the unfair capitalist system anymore,“ he said.
The president further said that the Iranian nation will regain all its rights by relying on logic, unity and resistance.
Referred to the challenges facing the courageous people of Iran, he said Iranians would overcome all the plots by relying on their national solidarity and strength.
“No power in the world dares to threaten the Iranian nation or grab its rights, as long as they continue to resist by relying on God,“ he said.
He added that the people of Iran are the principal power in the region and an influential state in international relations.
On Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, the president said the Iranian nation believes that all nations have the right to produce nuclear energy. Regretting that the world is filled with injustice and insecurity, he called for administration of justice throughout the globe, a reference to the need to restructure the United Nations Security Council.
Ahmadinejad noted that the objective of his provincial tours is to help resolve the problems facing the local people.
While in the province, President Ahmadinejad will meet families of martyrs as well as provincial clerics and scholars.
The Cabinet is also expected to hold a session in Hamedan to discuss the province’s problems.

US Ex-Marine Accused Of Spying For Israel
US authorities have arrested a US Army veteran on charges he leaked secret defense information, including on nuclear weapons, to the Israeli regime.
Ben-Ami Kadish, now 84, worked as a mechanical engineer at a US Army weapons center in New Jersey, from where he provided classified documents to Israel’s consul for science affairs in New York from 1979 to 1985, the Justice Department said, Alalam.ir reported.
In a case linked to the huge 1980s Jonathan Pollard spy scandal, US authorities also accused Kadish of illegally acting as an agent for the regime without notifying the US Attorney General’s office.
A criminal complaint stated Kadish’s Israeli contact was one of the agents whom convicted Pentagon spy Pollard used to pass thousands of secret documents to Israel in 1984 and 1985, in a case which rocked US-Israeli relations.
“In or about November 1985, Jonathan Jay Pollard was charged with espionage-related offenses in relation to his having provided classified information to CC-1, among other people,“ the complaint said, referring to the same unnamed Israeli ’co-conspirator’ who was Kadish’s contact.
Pollard is serving a life term after being convicted on a charge of spying for Israel while working as a US naval officer.
The Israeli regime publicly admitted in 1998 that Pollard had been their agent, and awarded him Israeli citizenship the same year.
Tuesday’s complaint alleges that Israeli consular official CC-1 gave Kadish lists of defense documents to obtain from the US Army’s Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center at the Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey, where Kadish worked.
